Unfortunately it is its horn that gets the Rhino into trouble. That and its poor eyesight means it can't see the poachers. The rhinoceros have been brought to the edge of extinction because of people killing them for their Horns. This year in South Africa alone nearly 300 Rhino have been killed for their horns.
The horns have been prized for tens of centuries for their beautiful translucent color when carved, and their supposed healing properties.The fact is the horn is made of the same stuff as our fingernails. People are mad killing these animals it is quite sad. They should chew their own fingernails instead.
The bush we went to has 24 hour security tracking poachers. Here are some photos we took during the Safari.
